Can CBD Help with Nicotine Addiction?

Could CBD help with nicotine addiction? Research is showing how the Endocannabinoid System may contribute to people’s health and ability to fight addiction. See more from That's Natural at www.cbdoil.life and @cbdhempoil

We all know somebody that smokes cigarettes. It’s a multi-billion-dollar industry, and according to the CDC, over $1,000,000 per hour is spent on advertising or marketing – just in America! It’s frustrating to see so much money spent on something that has been shown to harm people. So, what can we do to fight this corruption, and epidemic?

There are many studies showing that cannabidiol (CBD) has helped people who smoke kick their addiction to the curb. As this study acknowledges, the endocannabinoid system is becoming better understood and credited with helping those struggling from nicotine addiction. In this same study, they studied people who wanted to quit smoking in a double blind study.

These people were instructed to use an inhaler when they had the urge to smoke. One of the inhalers was filled with CBD, and the other a placebo. In the period of one week, none of the 24 smokers consumed fewer cigarettes with the placebo inhaler. However, those that were treated with CBD for that week reduced their cigarette intake by roughly 40%.

The studies goes on to say:

“Results also indicated some maintenance of this effect at follow-up. These preliminary data, combined with the strong preclinical rationale for use of this compound, suggest CBD to be a potential treatment for nicotine addiction that warrants further exploration.”

It’s incredible to think that without even trying, people reduced their intake of cigarettes by nearly half in just one week! Being in business for over 10 years, That’s Natural believes in providing pure, potent, and trusted products. Therefore, we provide 100% traceability of where our hemp comes from. Our CBD rich oils and cremes are all full spectrum products. Full spectrum products mean that many cannabinoids and terpenes are available in our products, instead of isolating just one of these important compounds. These cannabinoids and terpenes work together with our endocannabinoid system, which all humans have, and may relieve many of the symptoms that occur from certain issues in a natural way. The Endocannabinoid System and It’s Impact On PTSD

A growing body of research shows that CBD (Cannabidiol) may benefit people with PTSD – Learn more about cannabinoids for post traumatic stress disorder at That's Natural www.cbdoil.life and @cbdhempoil  #PTSD #anxiety #fear #stress #depression #autoimmune #anxietyrelief #anxietyattack #anxietyhelp #anxietysucks #veterans #veteransusa #military #militarywives #ptsdrecovery #ptsdsurvivor #ptsdisadailybattle #ptsdwarriors #depressionrecovery

Twenty percent of veterans returning from combat will have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and 77% of children exposed to a school shooting develop PTSD. PTSD accounts for over 5,000 suicides in the US alone because of combat-based PTSD. In fact, PTSD related suicide ranks 10th as a leading cause of death in the US. Unfortunately, less than 50% of people suffering from PTSD are being treated for it. Those are some scary numbers provided by Health Research Funding, but fortunately, there is still hope for these people. June is PTSD Awareness Month, and it is obvious that there needs to be more attention given to this disorder, and potential treatments for it.

Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience has thankfully published extensive research regarding the endocannabinoid system and how it may impact those with PTSD. It begins by stating, “An ideal treatment would be a drug able to block the pathological over-consolidation and continuous retrieval of the traumatic event, while enhancing its extinction and reducing the anxiety symptoms.”

It goes on to say that endocannabinoids regulate affective states and also participates in memory consolidation, retrieval, and extinction. Clinical findings have shown a relationship between cannabinoids and PTSD, “as well as changes in endocannabinoid activity in PTSD patients, further suggest the existence of a link between endocannabinoids and maladaptive brain changes after trauma exposure.”

This study even went as far as to say:

“Along these lines, we suggest that endocannabinoid degradation inhibitors may be an ideal therapeutic approach to simultaneously treat the emotional and cognitive features of PTSD, avoiding the unwanted psychotropic effects of compounds directly binding cannabinoid receptors.”

Considering how many people suffer from this disorder, and how severe it is for many of them, this should be very encouraging. If cannabinoids really have that big of an impact on PTSD, it should be used, or at least considered, as a treatment more often than it is.

If we walk into a nursing home, hospital, or other health facility, chances are pretty high that we will see at least a few people struggling with a neurodegenerative disorders. In America, it is one of the main causes of death. These disorders are often distinguished by a loss of neurons in specific regions of the nervous system. It is believed that this nerve cell loss is the primary reason for cognitive and motor function dysfunction for those with a neurodegenerative disorder.

According to this study, inflammation is one of the connecting factors among the list of neurodegenerative disorders/diseases. New therapeutic approaches are being sought after because currently there are very few therapies for the wide range of disorders. The most desirable solution is the combination of neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory agents because isolated treatments cannot be effective.

The study finds that, “cannabidiol (CBD), which lacks any unwanted psychotropic effect, may represent a very promising agent with the highest prospect for therapeutic use”. This make sense because of the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties that CBD has.

In a second study, cannabidiol was studied specifically for treatment in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It states that because of CBD: “has been found in vitro to be neuroprotective, to prevent hippocampal and cortical neurodegeneration, to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, reduce tau hyperphosphorylation and to regulate microglial cell migration”, it is a prime candidate for new treatment strategies.

Additionally, “CBD was shown to protect against Aβ mediated neurotoxicity and microglial-activated neurotoxicity to reduce Aβ production by inducing APP ubiquination and to improve cell viability.” The study concluded that because of these properties, it is suggested that CBD is a perfect candidate to treat the array of pathologies found in AD.

Because our products are full spectrum, and contain a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes it is believed to have a more powerful response than using just one of the cannabinoids at a time. A recent study was explained by Medical News Today shows that cannabidiol (CBD) may be just as effective at preventing migraines as current pharmaceutical drugs. The study also found that when 48 adults were given a combination of cannabinoids, that the pain experienced by their acute migraines fell by 55%.

The second phase of this study included 79 patients with chronic migraines, and 48 patients with cluster headache. For three months the patients were either given pharmaceutical drugs, or a combination of cannabinoids. Subjects were monitored during the three month period, and for four weeks after the treatment ended. The cannabinoid combination led to fewer migraine attacks than amitriptyline (an antidepressant often used to treat migraines). Although there wasn’t a huge differentiation, there was a reduction of 40.4% with cannabinoids, and only 40.1% with amitriptyline.

Additionally, acute pain intensity was reduced by 43.5% when using the cannabinoid mixture. Based on their results, researchers concluded that cannabinoids were just as effective as existing medications for preventing migraine attacks. “We were able to demonstrate that cannabinoids are an alternative to established treatments in migraine prevention,” said Dr. Maria Nicolodi, the study leader.

This is very encouraging news for those that suffer from migraines, which is the third most prevalent illness in the world. Migraines effect around 1 billion people globally, and more than 38 million people in the United States according to the Migraine Research Foundation.

Coming in 2018 – CBD for UFC and MMA!

Is there a difference in marijuana and hemp? Or THC and CBD? The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is removing CBD from its list of banned substances beginning in 2018. According to this article, WADA governs drug testing in the Olympics and sets guidelines for several sporting leagues including UFC. Another article states that WADA will no longer be looking for evidence of CBD use or punishing athletes found to be using CBD, in or out of competition.

“Several studies have shown promise when it comes to the use of CBD for pain relief, especially for chronic pain. Most studies utilize formations of CBD which also contain THC, however, but the FDA hasn’t licensed CBD or THC for use as a painkiller at this time.”…”The creation of CBD oil or CBD supplements involved extracting the CBD from plants containing THC. In some cases, the source is a specific strain of cannabis called hemp, which has minimal amounts of THC, but various other strains of cannabis, some extremely high in THC, can also be used to make CBD formulations.”

“Annually, the Prohibited List review involves a very extensive stakeholder consultation process over the course of nine months,” said Director General Olivier Niggli in his official statement for WADA. “In reviewing the List, experts examine such sources as: scientific and medical research; trends; and, intelligence gathered from law enforcement and pharmaceutical companies in order to stay ahead of those that endeavor to cheat the system.”

For more than a decade, MMA fighter Nate Diaz and his brother have been cannabis advocates for their respected sport. The Diaz brothers should be happy about this news. Nate was given a public warning by the USADA after he admitted to consuming CBD in competition during the press conference. His brother Nick was suspended for five years in 2015 for failing cannabis drug tests.

This study by Oxford Academic explains some of CBD’s role in fighting pain. This study concluded that a “significant analgesic effect was observed”. It showed significant improvements in pain on movement, pain at rest, and quality of sleep. Notably, there was not a noticeable effect on morning stiffness, but the baseline tests for that were low to begin with.

How Endocannabinoid Deficiency May Explain Headaches & Migraines

Can CBD help with migraines? Research is showing how cannabinoids like CBD can benefit the Endocannabinoid System! . See more at www.cbdoil.life and @cbdhempoil  #migraines #headaches #headache #migraine #natural #health #wellness #holistic #womenshealth #essentialoils #migrainessuck #migrainerelief #migraineremedy

Migraines and headaches are so common, nearly every person will experience one at some point. In fact, it’s been said that 80-90% of people will experience a tension headache at some point in their life. That’s not to mention any chronic headaches, migraines, or other types. Amazingly, there is over 157 million work hours missed each year due to migraines! To put that last figure in perspective: If a single person had to endure a migraine for that many hours, they wouldn’t be relieved of it for almost 18,000 years!

This study from PubMed states that migraines influence the endocannabinoid system’s (ECS) function in many ways. It has found that cannabinoids demonstrate dopamine-blocking and anti-inflammatory effects. Additionally, “Cannabinoids have similarly demonstrated the ability to block spinal, peripheral and gastrointestinal mechanisms that promote pain in headache.”

Migraines, among other conditions were found to:

“display common clinical, biochemical and pathophysiological patterns that suggest an underlying clinical endocannabinoid deficiency that may be suitably treated with cannabinoid medicines.”

So, we may be able to relieve the pain from headaches/migraines by treating ourselves with natural medicines/supplements like cannabinoids. If some headaches are actually caused by a deficiency in certain substances to one of our body systems, shouldn’t that be an easy fix? Could it really be as simple as feeding our ECS with different cannabinoids like cannabidiol (CBD).

Another study concludes that:

“Although the exact ECS-dependent mechanisms underlying migraine are not fully understood, the available results strongly suggest that activation of ECS could represent a promising therapeutical tool for reducing both the physiological and inflammatory components of pain that are likely involved in migraine attacks.”

Other studies, mentioned in the one above, suggest that the ECS is centrally and peripherally involved in processing pain signals. So, not only can our ECS possibly be directly related to headaches and migraines by being deficient in cannabinoids, but it may also be able to reduce the pain caused by these conditions.

Because our products are full spectrum, and contain a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes it is believed to have a more powerful response than using just one of the cannabinoids at a time. 12-Year Old Says It’s a “Miracle I Made It” Because of CBD Oil

Great story about how CBD helped a young girl with a rare disorder that causes uncontrollable seizures known as Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome (F.I.R.E.S). See more news and research from That’s Natural at www.cbdoil.life and @cbdhempoil. #news #seizures #FIRES #epilepsy #health #holistic #kids #kidshealth #natural #wellness

On April 2nd, the first sign of trouble began for Annalise Lujan. She was competing in gymnastics, when her body seemed to just break down. She was diagnosed with a rare disorder that causes uncontrollable seizures known as (F.I.R.E.S.).

Annalise was then airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and treated with CBD oil, which is non-psychoactive and does not create a “high”. Within 48 hours, her seizures had virtually completely stopped. Annalise’s mother, Maryann, now says, “CBD oil saved her life”.

A study from The National Institute of Health says:

“CBD is anticonvulsant in many acute animal models but there is limited data in chronic models. The antiepileptic mechanisms of CBD are not known, but may include effects on the equilibrative nucleoside transporter; the orphan G-protein-coupled receptor GPR55; the transient receptor potential of melastatin type 8 channel; the 5-HT1a receptor; the α3 and α1 glycine receptors; and the transient receptor potential of ankyrin type 1 channel….CBD appears to be well tolerated in humans but small and methodologically limited studies of CBD in human epilepsy have been inconclusive.”

It would be safe to say that Annalise probably doesn’t care much about why or how the CBD works, just as long as her seizures don’t occur like they were before. Annalise is now back home, with her family, where she belongs. She and her family know that the road ahead will not be easy, but know that when there is a will, there is a way.

As Maryann recounts how quickly F.I.R.E.S. changed Annalise’s life, she said: “One day, she was just a healthy young lady, going to school, participating in her community and her gymnastics, and the next day – fighting for her life.” Annalise simply says, “It’s just like a miracle I made it”. They now have a GoFund me account to help with her medical and rehab bills.

United Nations Claims CBD is Medicine – With No Risk of Abuse

CBD as Medicine - UN WHO Flag - Full Spectrum CBD from That's Natural at www.cbdoil.life

That’s right. The United Nations, and the World Health Organiziation (WHO) agree that naturally occurring CBD is a medicine – the DEA disagrees. The DEA claims that there is no medicinal value or medical use. The UN is now unequivocally recognizing that CBD does have medical value – and a lot of it.

The interesting part of this will play itself out over the coming years. In 2015, a federal judge in Sacramento claimed that whether the DEA was correct or not, they had followed its own internal process claiming it was unsafe with no medical value. Because the USA is a member of the organization which recognizes CBD as a medicine, they will not only have to argue that WHO is wrong, but that it had intentions of recognizing CBD as a medicine in future cases. A court case like this would certainly draw upon scientists from around the world, and from the USA to speak against the DEA’s current stance.

It was actually the WHO expert committee on Drug Dependence that stated:

“Recent evidence from animal and human studies shows that its use could have some therapeutic value for seizures due to epilepsy and related conditions,” said the UN report. “Current evidence also shows that cannabidiol is not likely to be abused or create dependence as for other cannabinoids (such as Tetra Hydro Cannabinol (THC), for instance).”

The saddest part is that in 1988, a federal judge ruled in favor of cannabis, claiming it did indeed have medical benefits. The DEA has waged war against cannabis, and even receives billions of tax dollars each year to stop production, cultivation, legalization and more of cannabis. NORML Political Director Justin Strekal said, “It is yet another example of the US government placing ideology over evidence when it comes to issues related to the cannabis plant.”

Riley the Canine: “CBD works!!”

CBD for Dogs - News and research on applications for Cannabidiol for Canines - From the Cannabist. See That's Natural full spectrum CBD Oil Products at www.cbdoil.life

Riley is a three year old, 135-pound Newfoundland dog that is one of a few dozen canines participating in history. A group from Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Fort Collins is conducting the first scientific clinical trial assessing how well CBD works on pets with certain ailments. Dr. Stephanie McGrath, a CSU veterinary neurologist began receiving questions about CBD in 2012 regarding sore hips, seizures, and anxiety caused by fireworks or thunderstorms according to this article.

This clinical trial began in 2016 with the lead of Dr. McGrath. Their first step was to ensure the safety, toxicity, and pharmacokinetics of CBD in healthy dogs to demonstrate the compound was not only measurable in the blood, but also safe enough to warrant studies in a clinical population. 30 research beagles were given capsules, tincture (oil), and transdermal cream – the tincture was the most promising for safety and measurement in the blood, according to McGrath.

No dogs were removed from the study after these administration, which garnished approval for clinical trials from CSU. Clinical trials began to measure the effectiveness in treating osteoarthritis and epilepsy.

In this epilepsy based double-blind study conducted by Dr. McGrath, the stakes were high because of the 30% of dogs using conventional anti-convulsant therapies that continue to have uncontrolled seizures, or a poor quality of life due to side effects – some even end up being euthanized. During the 12-week trial, owners recorded how many seizures per day their dogs had, in addition to monthly blood tests.

Dr. Felix Duerr, a CSU veterinary surgeon conducted the double-blind study regarding arthritis. In this study, dogs received either a placebo or CBD treatment for six weeks. Then, they would receive the opposite treatment for the following six weeks. Each dog was required to walk 15 minutes per day, wearing a collar that measures vitals and activity, in addition to lab work every two weeks.

This is where Riley enters the picture, as she was one of the test subjects with arthritis. She’s had previous surgeries, can’t play for long before needing to rest, she cries at night because of the pain, and even lies down to eat. “I’ll try whatever I can to help her. She needs to have a life,” said Riley’s owner Astonna McCoy.

Riley received stem cell research from CSU previously and it worked well for a few months. However, overnight, the treatment wore off and the arthritis returned with all of its side effects.

Riley established a baseline measurement before receiving CBD by running on a pressure mat, which measured her movements – and also showed forelimb lameness and a weight shift to accommodate her bad right elbow.

After just four weeks, Riley was doing remarkably better on some days, but still had bad ones as well. However, she was now signaling for walks and wanting to play with her 95-pound Golden Labrador Retriever brother named Tank.

CBD appears to be working well for the canines in the study, but results won’t be conclusive for another 12-18 months according to Dr. McGrath and Duerr. As for Riley, she seems to be regaining some of her life that she had previously lost.

The Overlooked Hero – Five Conditions CBD Can Help Immediately

CBD and other cannabinoids are becoming heroes to people with a variety of health issues. #diabetes #anxiety #acne #addiction #crohns and more – see the most recent news and research at at www.cbdoil.life and @cbdhempoil   #health #depression #PTSD #inflammation #immunity #immunebooster #immunesupport #motivation #essentialoils #ThatsNatural

THC is the most famous component of cannabis, but cannabidiol (CBD) is the real hero. It is non-psychoactive (doesn’t get you “high”), and contains a lot of properties that can help with different conditions. Each person has an endocannabinoid system, which works alongside our immune system to help with these conditions. This system is “fed” by consuming cannabinoids like CBD.

Diabetes

CBD has been shown to help people with diabetes stabilize and decrease their need for insulin or other medications. According to the American Journal of Physiology, it has been shown to lower the incidence of diabetes in non-obese mice. “In this study we have investigated the effects of CBD on high glucose (HG)-induced, mitochondrial superoxide generation, NF-κB activation, nitrotyrosine formation, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and adhesion molecules ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression, monocyte-endothelial adhesion, transendothelial migration of monocytes, and disruption of endothelial barrier function in human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs)”.

“Since a disruption of the endothelial function and integrity by HG is a crucial early event underlying the development of various diabetic complications, our results suggest that CBD, which has recently been approved for the treatment of inflammation, pain, and spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis in humans, may have significant therapeutic benefits against diabetic complications and atherosclerosis.”

Anxiety

This is arguable one of CBD’s greatest strengths. Although there have been numerous studies showing CBD’s benefits for PTSD, public speaking, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, PTSD, etc…, one study by the National Institute of Health says:

“Studies using animal models of anxiety and involving healthy volunteers clearly suggest an anxiolytic-like effect of CBD. Moreover, CBD was shown to reduce anxiety in patients with social anxiety disorder.”

Acne

While acne is one of the most common conditions, especially among teenagers, it is not very well known that CBD can help prevent it. As this study shows, CBD may be even more effective than mainstream treatments. Tamas Biro, who works with University of Debrecen (Hungary), Department of Physiology, stated:

“CBD is very efficient —actually, in our model system, it was much more efficient than the Vitamin A derivatives like Accutane. Of further importance, CBD was universally inhibitive of lipid synthesis. It was able to inhibit not only the actions of endocannabinoids but also the effects of other inflammatory mediators such as steroid hormones that stimulate fat production in these cells. “Another important result: we found that low concentrations of CBD were very effective in inhibiting lipid synthesis but did not affect the viability of cells. This was also in contrast to the effects of Vitamin A derivatives which inhibit the fat production of sebocytes by killing them.”

Nicotine Addiction

Another study by the National Institute of Health shows that cannabidiol has reduced cigarette consumption in tobacco smokers. 24 smokers were given either a placebo inhaler, or CBD inhaler for one week. When they felt the urge to smoke, they were told to use the inhaler. For one week subjects followed this method, and placebo treated smokers showed no difference. CBD users reduced the number of cigarettes by 40%.

Crohn’s Disease

In a study from 2014, CBD has been shown to benefit patients with Crohn’s disease. It states:

“In a prospective placebo-controlled study, it has been shown what has been largely anticipated from anecdotal reports, i.e. that cannabis produces significant clinical benefits in patients with Crohn’s disease. The mechanisms involved are not yet clear but most likely include peripheral actions on cannabinoid receptors 1 and 2, and may also include central actions.”
