PTSD and Endocannabinoid Deficiency – Cannabinoids for Anxiety and Pain

CBD for PTSD - cannabinoids for post traumatic stress disorder - anxiety, depression, stress

There are many people who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and many of these individuals have been a part of the armed services.  There is a desperate need to find ways to treat the symptoms of PTSD – and non-psychoactive cannabinoids, like CBD, may be able to play a part.

It has been found that people who have PTSD have lower levels of anandamide.  This compound is created endogenously inside of our bodies (endocannabinoids).  Anandamide fits or ‘triggers’ the same receptor that is responsive to various cannabinoids – like CBD.  Anandamide makes us “feel good” – lower levels of it could create symptoms related to fear, anxiety, panic, and depression.

From Leafly:

“Scientists have determined that normal CB-1 receptor signaling deactivates traumatic memories and endows it with the gift of forgetting,” Lee said, “But skewed CB-1 signaling, due to endocannabinoid deficits (low serum levels of anandamide), results in impaired fear extinction, aversive memory consolidation, and chronic anxiety, the hallmarks of PTSD.”

Endocannabinoid deficiency could play a role in PTSD, and more research should (and will) be done to see how the introduction of cannabinoids could help people who suffer from these symptoms.

There has already been some research on the relationship of CBD and PTSD.  And there is growing observational and anecdotal evidence from thousands of people who have taken their health into their own hands with non-psychoactive CBD products, that there can be an improvement of quality of life.  At That’s Natural we are excited to see the smarter food and medicine policy that brings more research and more peace to the many people who suffer from this condition.

Does CBD Help for Sleep? CBD as ‘Bi-Phasic’

CBD for sleep, CBD, CBD oil, insomnia, anxiety, biphasic, bi-phasic, cannabinoids, terpenes, full spectrum, That's Natural, Thats Natural, www.cbdoil.life, www.thatsnatural.info

A lot of people ask if CBD will help them sleep. Others ask if it will help them focus more, or be more alert. Studies have shown that it has the properties to do both – based on the amount of CBD that you take. Obviously, everyone’s body is different, so that amount will differ for every individual. The term “bi-phasic”, as defined by the Webster dictionary, simply means “having two phases”. In reference to the sleep cycle, this means that certain amounts of a product will wake you up more, and certain amounts will make you more relaxed or sleepy.

The National Institutes of Health reports that CBD is biphasic in regards to the sleep cycle, where low concentrations stimulate activity, while higher concentrations limited activity. The Sleep Doctor also explains how CBD may help with sleep:

“CBD has the ability to reduce anxiety, which can be helpful in reducing sleep difficulties and improving sleep quality. CBD may increase overall sleep amounts, and improve insomnia, according to research. CBD has been shown to reduce insomnia in people who suffer from chronic pain. In smaller doses, CBD stimulates alertness and reduces daytime sleepiness, which is important for daytime performance and for the strength and consistency of the sleep-wake cycle.”

So, although there isn’t recommended dosages that have been found effective for these purposes at this point, the research shows that CBD is indeed biphasic in regards to the sleep-wake cycle. There is clearly a bell curve with CBD and sleep, but that amount likely varies drastically from person to person. The suggestion of most is to consume small amounts initially, because you can always take more.

Blow Away Those Allergies With CBD!

Research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) explains how now only CBD, but other cannabinoids as well, have anti-allergenic effects. It’s Spring time once again! You know what that means! Dust starts blowing, and every allergen imaginable starts producing pollen and other irritating substances for your bodies. Over 50 million American’s suffer from allergies annually. Remarkably, over 40% of children suffer from allergies.

Research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) explains how now only CBD, but other cannabinoids as well, have anti-allergenic effects. It says that, “Properties of cannabinoids that might be of therapeutic use include analgesia, muscle relaxation, immunosuppression, anti-inflammation, anti-allergic effects, sedation, improvement of mood, stimulation of appetite, anti-emesis, lowering of intraocular pressure, bronchodilation, neuroprotection and antineoplastic effects.”

Another study by the NIH from 2012,had the goal of offering more information on how cannabinoids impact inflammation, with a specific focus on immune/allergic reactions. One way which was found, showed that CB2 receptors on mast cells directly impacted the inflammatory effects. The second way that cannabinoids impacted the allergic/asthmatic reaction showed the activation of CB1 receptors on bronchial nerve endings which helped dilate the airway smooth muscle. Because of these findings, cannabinoids may be beneficial in airway hyper-reactivity and asthma. If this is true, CB1 has the same physiological impact that Albuterol has, by Broncho dilating the airways.

The study concluded that:

“The presence of endocannabinoid machinery in the central nervous system, together with high levels of CB1 expression, suggests that the endocannabinoid system is an important modulator of neuroinflammation and a possible drug target. In selected conditions, the activation of CB1 receptors in cerebral blood vessels can have beneficial antiischemic effects. However, as endocannabinoids can also bind to vanilloid receptors, they may also mediate neurotoxic effects.”

CBD And Autism: Can It Help?

CBD for autism, CBD, CBD oil, autism, asperger's, Asperger syndrome, spectrum disorder, That's Natural, Thats Natural, cbdoil.life, www.cbdoil.life, infowars, Alex Jones

April is Autism Awareness Month and there is growing interest in cannabis, and certain cannabinoids, for the treatment of varying symptoms for people who suffer from this disorder.  Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects people differently – and can often be diagnosed at a very early age.

Non-psychotropic CBD from hemp has been researched and may have positive applications for this growing disorder.  Because it does not get the person “high” – CBD products can be safe for people of all ages.

From Green Rush Daily:

“Could cannabis soon be considered a helpful form of treatment? Some studies seem to suggest so.  In 2013, researchers found that certain compounds could help autism patients. That same year, researchers at Stanford University found that the endocannabinoid system plays an important role in autism.”

More research needs to be done – but for consumers and citizens – these findings are encouraging and give hope.  Many people who want to avoid the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs may want to turn to a more natural, holistic, plant-based health regimen.

CBD as an Alternative to Alleviate Fibromyalgia Symptoms

CBD for Fibromyalgia Pain and Symptoms - Fatigue, Inflammation, Joint Condition, Auto-Immune Disorders. From That's Natural at www.cbdoil.life

In “Fibromyalgia News Today”, author Robin Dix mentions anecdotal evidence from others that the non-psychoactive cannabinoid CBD may help people with pain:

“I have a few fibro friends who swear by CBD oil. It does not contain THC. That’s what causes a euphoric high. My understanding is that it helps not only with pain, but also with sleep. It can be smoked or taken in a hemp capsule. I have not tried it, but definitely would be open to it.”

Human’s Endocannabinoid System, which regulates many immune system functions and pain-sensation, likely plays a role in peoples’ responsiveness to cannabinoids, including CBD.

That’s Natural sources CBD-rich oil from hemp that has been grown to have high levels and complete profiles of cannabinoids and terpenes.  Be sure to know your farmer, know how the hemp is processed, and make sure you are getting a full-spectrum product that contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant.

Journal Article on Non-Psychoactive CBD with Anti-tumor Properties

Cannabinoids like CBD may have anti-tumor properties and help with cancer treatments - See more research and news at cbdoil.life

Here’s a link to the journal article “Cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive cannabinoid compound, inhibits proliferation and invasion in U87-MG and T98G glioma cells through a multitarget effect.”  Evidence from all over the world is showing some potential application and benefit of non-psychoactive cannabinoids, like CBD (Cannabidiol).

From the abstract:

“Taken together, these results provide new insights into the antitumor action of CBD, showing that this cannabinoid affects multiple tumoral features and molecular pathways. As CBD is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid that appears to be devoid of side effects, our results support its exploitation as an effective anti-cancer drug in the management of gliomas.”

The Endocannabinoid System, which research is finding to be at the heart of many physiological functions, may play a major role in how bodies act and react to plant-based compounds like cannabinoids and terpenes.

CBD For Thyroid Regulation

CBD has been studied for a wide variety of issues, and although it hasn't been researched for exactly how it impacts thyroid levels, there is research showing that it helps to regulate them. It is important to understand the role of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a communication network that is responsible for regulating balance in many of our processes. One of the mechanism involved in the ECS is use of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2 receptors being the most studied. CBD has been studied for a wide variety of issues, and although it hasn’t been researched for exactly how it impacts thyroid levels, there is research showing that it helps to regulate them. It is important to understand the role of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a communication network that is responsible for regulating balance in many of our processes. One of the mechanism involved in the ECS is use of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2 receptors being the most studied.

This study explains that there are cannabinoid receptors located on cells on the thyroid gland. Additionally, this study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), explains that CB1 has also been identified within the Hypothalamic Paraventricular Nucleus (PVN). This is the region of the brain that sends signals to the thyroid, regulating its activities.

Furthermore, the second study listed above, found that the CB1 receptor directly influences the activity of neurons that control the thyroid. The conclusion of the study is fascinating:

“The presence of both symmetric and asymmetric type CB1 synapses on [thyrotropin-releasing hormone-synthesizing] neurons in the [hypothalamic periventricular nucleus] suggests that endocannabinoids may influence both excitatory and inhibitory inputs of these neurons.”

Another study concluded that, “These data indicate that functional CB1 receptors which are able to modulate the release of T3 and T4 are expressed in the rat thyroid, and suggest a possible role of cannabinoids in the regulation of rat thyroid hormonal activity.”

Finally, one last study from 2015, shows that cannabinoid receptors could potentially serve as useful targets for both malignant and benign thyroid lesions. No research has been conducted on whether CBD may help with conditions like hypothyroidism, or hyperthyroidism, but the presence of cannabinoid receptors and their leverage on thyroid health and function lead many to believe that CBD may have a therapeutic application to treatment these thyroid disorders.

One Dose of CBD May Lower Your Blood Pressure!

According to the study, their data suggests that one single dose of CBD can potentially reduce a person's resting blood pressure. It may also reduce the blood pressure response to stress. This helps explain why CBD has been used to reduce anxiety and pain levels, in addition to blood pressure. Interestingly, CBD is also believed to act as a neuroprotectant that may help prevent heart disease and stroke. See more about That's Natural full spectrum CBD-rich hemp oil at www.cbdoil.life and www.thatsnatural.info

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claims that 1 in every 3 American’s suffer from high blood pressure (Hypertension). Hypertension is often referred to as the “silent killer” because it doesn’t typically have any signs or symptoms. In fact, many people that suffer from hypertension don’t know they have it!

A recent study by the JCI Journal examined the impact of CBD and blood pressure. The results may surprise you. Nine healthy male volunteers received a dose of either CBD or a placebo in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover study.

“CBD reduced resting systolic BP (–6 mmHg; P < 0.05) and stroke volume (–8 ml; P < 0.05), with increased heart rate (HR) and maintained cardiac output. Subjects who had taken CBD had lower BP (–5 mmHg; P < 0.05, especially before and after stress), increased HR (+10 bpm; P < 0.01), decreased stroke volume (–13 ml; P < 0.01), and a blunted forearm skin blood flow response to isometric exercise. In response to cold stress, subjects who had taken CBD had blunted BP (–6 mmHg; P < 0.01) and increased HR (+7 bpm; P < 0.05), with lower total peripheral resistance.”

According to the study, their data suggests that one single dose of CBD can potentially reduce a person’s resting blood pressure. It may also reduce the blood pressure response to stress. This helps explain why CBD has been used to reduce anxiety and pain levels, in addition to blood pressure. Interestingly, CBD is also believed to act as a neuroprotectant that may help prevent heart disease and stroke. All of these benefits compliment each other!

The study did conclude that further testing is needed to definitively claim whether CBD can consistently lower blood pressure levels, but also stated that it is very promising at the potential possibilities of CBD reducing and/or preventing certain cardiovascular disorders.
