To A Peaceful, Prosperous, and Rebellious 2013

Each of us makes a difference. Each of us, even in our own little world of stocking shelves, serving food, driving trucks, delivering goods, tapping on the keyboard, and talking to friends and family – each action that we take is profound.

The government is made up of people – human beings – that can be changed (or manipulated for that matter). We – you and I – are the people that can make our government exist of people who cherish liberty, our natural rights, our right to protect ourselves, our right to express ourselves freely.

We do this by our own little interactions – in our community, in our town or city, and in our County. We can participate in State and national politics – but our real power is with our small circle of 10 or 20, who we can trust, who we can talk to, and who we can build our armies with.

To a very rebellious 2013 – let us rebel against the evil powers that seek to destroy, and instead – cherish, promote, and empower the creative forces that embrace peace and prosperity. Let us rebel against collective rights, like political parties, who have their own agenda. Let us rebel against the manipulative monetary system that erodes the wealth and property of all people. Let us rebel against the tyranny that seeks to destroy our light, as free and loving people.

Rebel with me, and let’s use the amazing power that we have – for good.

In Liberty,

Tisha

Want to Boost Your Nest Egg? Send Congress Home

Sometimes hard numbers and intuition come together to bring to light absolute truth.  A mutual fund, called the Congressional Effects Fund (CEFFX) shows how great the market can do when Congress is out of session.  By timing the investment in assets in the broad stock market (when Congress in out of session) versus cash equivalents (when Congress is in session), this mutual fund has had stock market returns 60 percent higher than others during the year in general.  Read more HERE.

A Higher Purpose – John Mackey on Creating the High Trust Organization

John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, delivered a very eloquent essay on what is wrong and what is right in our society, culture, and politics.  Three things that are absolutely necessary for success in a business, a market, and a political system are: Transparency, Trust, and Genuine Concern for People.

That is what Whole Foods, as a company, embodies as a mission and vision.  The same type of mission and dedication to these three tenets should be a part of our political system.  The reason that we are in this current political and economic climate is because there is limited transparency, very minimal trust, and a lack of care for people – or the END CONSUMER.

By embracing these ideals, and by caring for our fellow human man (caring as in hand-ups NOT hand-outs), we will see TRUE PROFITABILITY – as people, business-owners, stockholders, and community members.

Please take the time to read John Mackey’s essay here: http://www2.wholefoodsmarket.com/blogs/jmackey/2010/03/09/creating-the-high-trust-organization/

BANKING REFORM – Limited Purpose Banking

We will be continually promoting this concept that was brought to our attention from one of our readers – it is WE THE PEOPLE that will save this country.

Have you heard the term “limited purpose banking”?  It is a very simple, efficient, and honest means of getting our financial system back on the track of preserving YOUR money.  The concept?  All financial institutions change to operate strictly as “pass-through mutual-fund companies”(Bloomberg, 2010), where the investments can lost value, but the funds themselves can never fail.  Details about mutual-fund securities would be disclosed in real-time (giving the market valuable information to be able to make purchasing decisions).  This would also replace 115 federal and state financial regulatory bodies with ONE “Federal Financial Administration” to oversee limited-purpose-banking funds.

Create transparency, eliminate bureaucracy, and let the free-market work.  That is what I call smart and sustainable solutions to our banking industry.  Read more about it HERE.

Downsizing the Federal Government

Do you ever wonder if there are actually solutions to the mess we are in?

We hear a whole lot about the PROBLEM – but what about things we can actually DO?  I think we can all agree that our time would be better spent on positive and productive solutions versus complaining, hate speech, and rhetoric.

So, OF COURSE there are solutions.  This blog – Downsizingthefederalgovernment, as well as the book, Downsizing the Federal Government by Chris Edwards (available on our website for purchase; please purchase there if you so desire as it keeps the lights on), offer a “department by department guide to cutting the federal government”.

The TRUTH is that we can solve a whole lot of our budget problems by eliminating waste and inefficiences.  AND if we have more money in the bank, we can do more productive things in our economy.

Don’t be fooled – there are things we can do RIGHT NOW.  All it takes is a group of concerned citizens willing to stand up and speak up.

A Banking System to Create PROSPERITY

– Tisha Casida

In theory, a banking system is supposed to create safety and prosperity for its customers – the people who make deposits and take out loans.

What happened in the past couple years in the United States is unprecedented and unsustainable, not to mention unethical.  Hard-working Americans who trusted in their investments were taken to the cleaners, while those who stole their retirements, livelihoods, and future were the beneficiaries of a government-funded bailout.

Could this have been prevented?  Of course it could have!  Could we do better now?  Of course we can!  Here’s how.

Our financial system “was supposed to channel our hard-earned savings into the best real investments: new homes, offices, factories, equipment and research. And it was supposed to correctly price our assets”(Kotlikoff & Leamer, 2009).  When it collapsed, it was doing neither of these because Wall Street had turned into a gambling machine.

Limited Purpose Banking (LPB) “would transform all financial corporations, including insurance companies and hedge funds, into mutual funds”(2009).  These mutual funds would still be called “banks” and would be regulated by a new “Federal Financial Authority” (FFA) that would replace over 115 state and federal regulatory agencies (yes, that would probably save some taxpayers money, not to mention time, and heartache) and the FFA would “rate, verify, supervise custody, disclose and clear all securities purchased, held and sold by LPB mutual funds. Private rating companies could stay in business, but no one would need to trust them ever again”(2009).

Under such a system, banks would never fail because they would never hold financial assets, they would be limited to their “legitimate” purpose – being a financial intermediary.

The Good American Post will do our best to figure out how our readers and listeners can learn more and get involved, you can read a detailed article about LPB by Laurence J. Kotlikoff and Edward Leamer HERE.

A Positive Proactive Solution to the Drug "War"

– Tisha Casida

The constitution allows people to take responsibility for themselves and their lives.  Government intervention in anything usually means a lot of pain and heartache, although it is completely necessary to have rules and regulations that keep (or attempt to keep) people honest.  Our problems are social problems, and the government will never be able to fix people’s souls (in my opinion only).

So, quick summary.  If people want to drink alcohol, they can.  If people want to smoke, then can.  If people want to be lazy, they can.  If people want to be stupid, as long as they aren’t physically harming anyone else, they can.  If people want to kill themselves, then can.  Why in the world can’t people smoke marijuana legally and just be taxed for it?  What a great revenue-generator for Uncle Sam (use that money for education – use the saved money from the judicial system for education!)!

This drug is causing horrid deaths in Mexico, slowly trickling over into the United States.  The “war on drugs” hasn’t ever worked – it really hasn’t, and the situation is actually getting worse.  We are throwing all of this money and time into something that is failing, all while if we would look at common-sense solutions (i.e. legalizing the stuff), we could immediately see beneficial impacts.

Global Warming DID NOT Cause the Oil Spill

We here at The Good American Post LOVE our environment and are appalled at the Gulf Oil Spill disaster that is wrecking havoc on the eco-sytstem.  We are also very happy to embrace concepts of sustainability, as conserving and protecting our land is of utmost importance.  What is not acceptable is having legislation, like the new energy-bill that will cause potentially disastrous consequences on our economy and line the pockets of people who gamble with our land, our lives, and our future.

We will be doing an on-going series both online and in print about SUSTAINABLE changes for our energy supply to both protect our environment while protecting our free-market and liberties.  Stay tuned, and oppose any legislation that will do even more harm to our free markets – the one thing that can save us.  And be wary of those who use disasters as leverage.  There is a better way, one that will benefit our communities and economies and allow us to prosper.
