Small Towns in Colorado Question Fluoride in Drinking Water

Local citizen activism, re-taking control and accountability equals better, more accountable governments.

Colorado continues to set an example for communities around the country to take control of their resources at a local level and fight back for their right to clean, pure, unaltered water.   On the Western Slope of Colorado (counties to the west of the Continental Divide), there are a few small towns that have made headlines this year for questioning the addition of fluoride to drinking water.

Rifle, a Western Slope working community, with large amounts of oil and gas exploration, started this trend by debating to remove fluoride from their municipal water source.  Earlier this year, Rifle decided to allow citizens to make the decision in a vote when the construction of a new water treatment plant is complete.

Snowmass, the high-end resort community has taken charge as well.  In July, Snowmass decided to stop adding fluoride to its drinking water.

Citizen activism is what has spurred the on-going debate and actionable solutions – showing what a difference a few visits to a city council or county commissioner meeting can make.

Getting Fluoride Out of Our Water

The government says that fluoride is harmless, but others disagree, and That’s Natural is one of them.

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) says that fluoride promotes “dental health”, unless you get too much, and then, it can increase the “likelihood of bone fractures” and may result “in effects on bone leading to pain and tenderness”.  But that is “only” if you get too much. How would anyone know how much anyone else is getting?

Of course, sometimes the government ‘gets it wrong’ – like in the case of Triclosan, that was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), but has been shown to be an anti-bacterial chemical that can harm or change the endocrine system (hormones) in animals.  It was “approved”, but that never meant it was “safe” or “good” for people.  You see, sometimes, the government can get it wrong.

Government, as you know, is just a collection of human beings – not necessarily endowed with more intelligence than you or I, or anyone else.  Mistakes can be made.

There is mounting evidence that fluoride in your water can be detrimental to your body.  The most resounding and dangerous effect being damage to the brain.  The EPA has a study showing “substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity”.  This is the same agency saying it is good for us and safe to consume over a period of a lifetime?  That doesn’t make a lot of sense.

People deserve a choice.  Just like the GMO (genetically modified organisms) debate.  Most will agree that it should not be in our food supply at all – but all people should agree that we should be able to make this choice for ourselves.  It is criminal to be consuming something that is bad for us that is being deliberately put into our water by a government agency.  Rebellion from such a system means standing up at the citizen-level of government to get it out of our water – are you up for it?  See the Fluoride Action Network for more Resources: www.fluoridealert.org

In Celebration of the Pink Ribbon – Let's Ditch It

I disrespect people and organizations that say they stand for something, but do not actually follow through with what they say their mission is.  The Pink Ribbon propaganda is one that really irritates me, because regardless of the amazing amounts of money that they raise – they just raise “awareness” of the disease – little to none of this goes into finding a cure.  And what is more sad, is that there ARE cures – and they are not promoted by the Pink Ribbon cause – nor by people in government in the “health” field.

The federal government has stopped cures for cancer from entering the marketplace.  Want an eye opener?  Read World Without Cancer (1974) by G. Edward Griffin about laetrile (Vitamin B-17).  And watch “Burzynski: Cancer is Serious Business“.  By neglecting proven results of cures, and instead, propagating poison – there is blood on the hands of many people who made these decisions to stop sound science at the FDA and the federal level of government.

And what is the best cure for cancer?  Why, prevention.  While scientists are smashing atoms together at the speed of light (Large Hadron Collider) – you mean to tell me that we don’t know what causes the deformation of cells?  Come on people.  In many, many cases we can absolutely stop cancer from starting by eating nutrient-dense foods and keeping our body in an alkaline (not acidic) state.  For women, other things to consider is to ditch your deodorant and antiperspirant that has aluminum-based compounds (which are carcinogens in the human body).  And be wary of those wire-bras that poke into your sensitive tissue or create circulation issues for more than 8 hours at a time.  Don’t be afraid of what cancer is – our bodies are amazing machines and can stop disease and heal from disease.

Why wouldn’t the federal government want an inexpensive and scientifically sound cure?  Why would the federal government allow genetically modified organisms into our food supply without giving the American people a choice? Well, probably because big-pharma and big-agriculture would lose out on A LOT of money.  If there are no sick people to treat – how will big pharmaceutical companies that have their lobbying and legislating tentacles around the necks of federal health agencies make their money?  To them, sickness, disease, and dependency upon a centralized food supply means a healthy bottom line.

In celebration of “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”, I propose that we become aware of: actual cures, of cancer prevention techniques, and of the corruption inside the FDA and federal level of government that promotes disease and poison through its actions against cures, like that of Dr. Burzynski – not to mention other cures that exist and that doctors are too afraid to discuss.  Let’s ditch buying items with this little pink ribbon on it, and instead find a local farmer and producer to buy our food from, so that we know the food is clean.  Let’s work on getting our bodies more alkaline and less acidic by changing our diet.  And let’s make a promise to support organizations that really stand for what they say they do.

Mental Health Issue NOT a Gun Issue – Tragedy at Sandy Hook

My heart and prayers are with the families and nation as we watch this horrific event unfold in Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  As we search for answers, I want to make very clear that if this young man who killed so many innocents was on any prescription drug to treat any mental condition, that that drug (that would have been approved by the FDA) should immediately be pulled and the people being treated with such treated with another approach other than mind-altering drugs.

Mind-altering drugs to treat mental illnesses are not tested with the thousands of variables that come into play with a human brain and the emotions of billions of different people.  We are all wired differently.  No man can create a panacea to cure all people of all things.  When it comes to emotional illnesses, many times prescription drugs can cause even more emotional turmoil and result in horrid, unspeakable actions.

• Jared Lee Loughner – the killer/shooter in Arizona who attempted to kill Representative Gabby Giffords used mind-altering substances and was described as mentally ill.

• Eric Harris – one of the killers/shooters in Colorado at Columbine High School was on an anti-depressent medication called Luvox– this is in the class of drugs called “selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors” (SSRI) – .  The other killer/shooter, Dylan Klebold, was alleged to be seen taking Paxil and Zoloft.

• James Holmes, the killer/shooter in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater actually talked about his affinity for altered states of mind and was on mind-altering prescription medication at the time of the shooting.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/9419299/Batman-Colorado-shooting-James-Holmes-fixated-by-altered-states-of-mind.html

That is just the start of the list, and these are just the cases of mass shootings – not individuals killing themselves, or killing “just” one family member.

Mass shootings by individuals are an American phenomena.  Armies and governments do such horrific things – but individuals acting out in such immense hatred and anger has been seen more-so in our very own country.  These impulses to kill massive numbers of people are not normal – they are something that is new to this century, and especially present and new since the introduction of mind-altering prescription medications.  The side-effects of many of these drugs are explicitly stated to be unhealthy feelings like: “agitation”, “memory problems”, “confusion”, “hallucinations” (Paxil), “racing thoughts, feelings of extreme happiness or irritability” (Luvox), “Mild Degree of Mania” (Zoloft).

Many of our children and youth are eating food devoid of nutrients – combine this with prescription drugs for depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit disorder, etc. – and you have a toxic concoction that will result in horrific crimes in our country.  We must change our approach to mental health and the wellness of the young minds that are to become the leaders of this country.

The “beloved” conservative Ronald Reagan did our nation no favors when it came to the care of the mentally ill when we cut the funding for these institutions.  Personally, I believe this funding and all programs would be much more effective at a State level – nonetheless, his policy put many mentally ill patients on the streets, and has done our nation no favors when it comes to protecting innocent lives from the inexplicable actions of the mentally ill.  Ever since, there has been an increase in the types of crimes that have no real answers and make us question the morality and saneness of our nation.

This is not a gun issue – those guns were legally purchased by Adam Lanza’s mother.  This is a mental health issue.  And for those of you who think that taking guns off the streets will alleviate the violence of insane individuals, I have news for you – it will not and it would be impossible to enforce – criminals always get weapons.  The only way to protect our citizenry is to allow individuals the opportunity to be armed to take the lives of those who attempt to take our own lives, or the lives of our children.

There are angels in heaven who have the hands of those little kids, who are safe now and far away from the horrific actions of that day.  In memory of them, and to their sacrifice, I beg you to consider a strong and peaceful campaign again the pharmaceutical industry and doctors/psychiatrists who use these mind-altering substances to treat our children’s emotional disorders.

Homeland Security – Where’s Scrutiny Over GMOs?

If you are concerned about the safety of the nation, and are worried about how to protect citizens from bodily harm from terrorists – you should really feel that same way about the injection of genetically modified organisms  (GMO’s) into the entire nation’s food supply by private companies and public partners that have deemed this infusion of un-tested foods onto our dinner tables “safe” and “necessary”.

I mean, changing the genetic make-up of the very food we eat that becomes part of our own DNA, is a pretty big deal – maybe citizens of our “free” country deserve a choice?

So, even though GMO’s have been “approved” by the all-knowing anointed intelligence agencies of American’s government, like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we have to remember that this agency approves “drugs” that have very damaging side-effects (including death – like what’s vocalized on all those pharmaceutical drug commercials with puppies running through a field of flowers and dancing people pirouetting down the beach).  A real “test” of how genetic modification may have long-term consequences on our agriculture industry as well as health of our citizens has not been completed.

You and I are the guinea pigs, we are the test.

The harbinger of corruption at the federal level of “protecting the people” through the office of the FDA is Michael R. Taylor, who worked for the FDA as the deputy commissioner for policy in the 1990’s, then went to work for Monsanto as Vice President of Public Policy, and then came back, under President Obama, as the Deputy Commissioner for Foods:

“Mr. Taylor is leading FDA efforts to

* develop and carry out a prevention-based strategy for food safety

* plan for new food safety legislation

* ensure that food labels contain clear and accurate information on nutrition”.

Yeah!  Of course he is going to do all of this effectively with absolutely no bias towards genetically modified foods, the flagship of Monsanto – where he worked and probably has some ties not to mention “stock” options.  Sure.

This is called the “revolving door”.  So are we giving the government and corporations the right to control your garden?  We already have.

Now it’s time to take it back.

And of course, the protection of multi-national companies like Monsanto from Constitutional law and from being responsible for human carnage with their practices through judicial review – is a testament to the fact that we absolutely have to take this fight in our own hands at the County and State level of government.

If we talk about “Homeland Security”, then can we talk about the very soil, water, and air that feeds the 307+ million Americans who exist here?

It is obvious that things are out of hand in Washington, D.C., and my guess is that our best bet is to lean local, know your farmer, spend more money on food and less money on policy, and vote with our wallet – the one vote we have left to make an immediate difference.

Arsenic in Our Food – Blaming & Changing

Arsenic is a naturally occurring substance, and in the environment, and even naturally occurring in some foods (for instance, in apricot kernels – which are also very high in Vitamin B). But there is evidence of an increasing amount of arsenic in rice, and the occurrence is not natural. As a matter of fact, it may be contributing to various sicknesses – including cancer.

The federal government and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have (in the past) been charged with protecting the American people and their health (along with other agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)). Unbelievably, “they” monitor (attempt to monitor) the levels of arsenic in water – but not in food. This is a minor oversight, but serves as an example, that no large, bureaucratic agency is capable of adapting to the needs of over 307 million Americans.

State and local governments are more apt and able to be in tune to the needs of the people – including keeping an eye on levels of arsenic in the water and the land that we grow our food in. In addition to this – to mimic what Dr. Oz said this morning – consumers can “nudge” companies to change their practices and make sure that we hold companies accountable to us – the consumer. After all, we are buying their product and contributing to their bottom line. That creates instant solutions – by people voting with their dollar and holding companies accountable for the toxins they put into the environment and the food that they produce. That is quick, smart, and a natural way to change this bad situation. It is, in essence, letting the free market work. We, as consumers, hold immense amounts of power. Because, we at any time, can stop buying their products.

This news about arsenic levels is not surprising – the United States’ centralized food supply is dangerous to our economy, our health, and the environment. News like this can encourage us to know our farmers, know our producers, and hold companies accountable for what they are doing. It can also show us that the centralized bureaucracy at the federal level of government does nothing to protect us – our State and local governments are better able to serve our needs when it comes to our health and wellness.

The Bureaucracy Faced by Food Producers

An entrepreneur, who has been working on growing her dedicated following of people who want natural prepared meals and healthful alternatives to the central food supply, has encountered multiple hurdles when trying to both start and expand her operations.

1. She purchased a retail food license for a place ($250), but ended up having to move into a new location and was told she was going to have to purchase ANOTHER retail food license ($250) – this was after the City-County Health Department told her she would have to “get the facility up to code” even though it was a restaurant previously (the previous operators were operating for TWO YEARS not in code and were never fined or questioned).  And then, the license expires at the end of the year!  So she will have to purchase ANOTHER retail food license in January of 2013 ($250)!  That is a total of $750 for a retail food license for a small business that has not even technically started selling to the public through this retail food establishment yet!

2. She has a source of naturally-raised and USDA-processed chicken that her customers are eager to purchase.  The people who process these chickens are certified by all of the agencies necessary to show that the chickens have been handled and processed up to “code”. HOWEVER, she is not allowed to re-sell these chickens to her customers.  Why?  The City-County Health Department has told her that the people raising the chickens themselves would have to be certified by the USDA (the time and cost for this is extensive – likely in the thousands of dollars by the end of it).  We are talking about between 20 and 30 chickens.

3. She wanted to purchase Italian Sausage from a small, local market and use it in her tortellini soup. But she was not “allowed” to! According to rules and regulations, the small local market can sell directly to the consumer, but as soon as the market sells to her they need a wholesale license and to be inspected by the USDA!  An impossible feat for this small-time market – this is an added expense that is not worth spending the money – there is just not enough volume to justify the investment, and therefore stops the creation of this product in its entirety.

4. If she wants to use farm-fresh eggs in a recipe, then she must have a license from the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), and a home inspection. She can sell farm-fresh eggs in her store-front, but SHE IS NOT ALLOWED TO USE THEM IN RECIPES.  All eggs served to the public must be pasteurized.  There are groups of people who do not want pasteurized products, and she has been stopped from using farm-fresh eggs in her recipes. People who want products that have not been pasteurized do not get the option of purchasing these products from her.

5. This entrepreneur started a very small indoor farmer’s market that was never inspected by the Health Department (after all, it was produce being sold by willing sellers and purchased by willing buyers – no prepared foods were involved) – and she was warned by someone in the Extension office that her market may have been “illegal”.  She asked me, “Don’t we have the right to gather and sell the goods we’ve produced?

***

Do We?

***
Small, local, micro producers should never be held to the same “laws” as large multi-national companies that lobby Congress to create these atrocious rules and regulations (what they call “law”) that eventually stop small producers from producing.  Follow the money.  You can see that most of our representatives in Congress have got there through the very money that ends up creating “laws” that hurt small farmers, entrepreneurs, and producers of food products.

***
It is people’s natural and unalienable right to consume products that they want to and exchange those products amongst each other.  There are no laws that can stop people who grow food or raise animals from getting those to willing consumers who are willing to purchase those items. And if those “laws” exist, then we can get rid of them in our own localities and communities.

The Abolition of Property Rights in America

Property rights are the basis for our Constitution – the trust between the people in this country, and the government who we have entrusted with certain privileges. Only individuals have rights. States governments and the federal government have privileges, which have been entrusted to them by us. You and me. We are the final say – we are the grand jury when it comes to protecting our lives and our property.

Whether you want to consider your body, your mind, your home, your land, and/or other intrinsic goods that you own, your property – this concept holds true for all of them – this is something unique to our Constitution and our way of life – where individuals have jurisdiction over their bodies and their property. We sometimes take this for granted.

There is a land-grab going on in our country and the basis for such is the dangerous and usurping heavy hand of the federal government, as well as international agencies and agendas like the United Nation’s Agenda 21.   Just as this affects the land and property that we own, where we make our livelihoods, and grow in our communities – the same threat is at bay for our own bodies – the ability we have to decide for ourselves what we put into our bodies, and our ability to eat nutritious, unadulterated foods and medicines that are an inherent part of the human species’ development (for example, with federal agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and with international agendas like Codex Alimentarius).

A good friend of mine has been attempting to build an addition to his mountain home, and came across several impediments – which halted his progress for almost a year. Some of these include local building codes, many of which can be traced back to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) (and the Department of Homeland Security). Have you seen how much land in our country is in a “flood plane”– where it is impossible to get “insurance”? (Of course if you cannot get insurance, you are completely halted from using your property… why is this?)

What happens to the land if it is deemed un-usable to the general population? Well, it goes back to the government of course. Have you seen how much land is now “owned” by the federal government? (Not to mention how many homes are “owned” by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae thanks to the self-inflicted housing bubble in 2008 that caused an unprecedented number of foreclosures.)

Since the federal government is a trust between those elected and those represented by the people they elect, then doesn’t this mean that this land and property is truly ours – the people’s? And if this is the case, don’t the citizens of their respected States have the right to use their land as they see fit?

Perhaps it would make more sense if State and local governments decided upon rules and regulations for the intricacies of each area versus the out-of-touch federal government that cannot make effective blanket-policies that positively affect every community in this country.

In Colorado’s third congressional district, we have very diverse ecosystems and geography that are an inherent part of the daily lives and economic development of the citizens of our State. Tremendous amounts of energy resources, water resources, agricultural lands, mineral resources, and the tourism-related industries from the geography of the land (skiing, fishing, rafting, hiking, etc.) are increasingly protected and extinguished by the federal government. Through agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) – copious amounts of red tape and “green tape” halt the responsible use of these resources that would positively benefit Colorado citizens.

There is a place for common-sense regulations, and when it comes to the resources, eco-systems, and land of a State – State and county officials should be the representatives protecting and enriching their citizens. Resources, eco-systems, and agricultural lands are unique and diverse, and the most effective means of protecting them is at the State and local level – where representatives and officials can be most transparent, accountable, and receptive to the needs of their citizens.

It could be (unfortunately) argued that we never had property rights. But since I am a fire-eater, I will go ahead and go on the record say that we do, and it is up to us to let the powers that be know where that line in the sand is drawn. We do have property rights and we have a right to use our land and resources as we as individuals see fit. Individual rights trump the rights of the State and the federal government, and I know of many individuals now who are fighting these federal agencies when it comes to using their own land and making their own decisions. This must stop. The federal government is a fictitious entity held together by the individuals of this country who have granted several privileges to them – and with the same power that we have used to grant them these privileges, we can entrust to State and local representatives the role of regulating the lands and resources we depend upon for our survival and for our economic well-being.

Health Is Everything

“It is impossible to fight a battle or a war if you are sick.  That is why we must keep our bodies and brains healthy – and be proactive about what we are feeding ourselves, our families, and our communities.” – Tisha Casida

On the long road to restoring liberty, I find it imperative that we focus some time and attention on our health.  And what we need to focus on is simple – our immune systems.

Let me qualify this by saying I am not a licensed anything and certainly not a doctor.  I am a young woman with no insurance who has decided I would rather put my money into preventing disease versus paying to alleviate the symptom (not the problem).

In a movie called Dr. Burzynski (a must watch for anyone who questions the FDA’s authority and actual purpose), a doctor says something to the effect of, ‘ask the head of the American Medical Association what prevents disease and they will tell you ‘the immune system’ – if this is the case, why don’t doctors write prescriptions for boosting one’s immune system?’.  I hope this point hits home.

So, in an effort to streamline our health, I have developed a core list of products (subject to change, review, and be added to with input from others), that I would like to share.

1. Protein: It is imperative that we eat quality proteins because these are the building blocks of our bodies.  By high-quality, I mean it is best that you know the source of your protein (where did the animal come from?, where was it slaughtered?, and what did it eat? are good questions to start with).  What we are trying to avoid are un-natural added growth hormones, antibiotics, and other chemicals that become a part of processed meat (nitrates, nitrites, artificial colorings, saline solution, etc.).  Raw milk is also a great source of protein (it has all 8 essential amino acids, depending on the farmer/area).  We must start to know our farmers and producers (especially when it comes to consuming raw milk) – find out where your meat or milk comes from and make a stand on eating high-quality products where you know the food-chain.    You will find that high-quality protein products taste better and allow you to support the local economy.  Beyond that, you create a positive action for your health and the environment.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar: Although vinegar is acidic, it has been shown that it actually causes people’s pH levels to become more alkaline.  The more alkaline your body is, the less chance there is for disease to subsist or proliferate.  That includes discouraging bacterial, fungal, and yeast growth – each which has corresponding negative effects on the human body.  You can take just a small bit every day, either by itself or in water/juice.

3. Green Drink: There are many mixes and concoctions that you can purchase – but the purpose of these is to get more “greens” in your diet.  Most Americans do not eat enough fruits and vegetables.  We know this.  And, you can take a “green powder pill”, but I am not confidant your body absorbs it the same.  Getting a green drink mixture and mixing it in organic fruit juice (organic, no-sugar-added cranberry juice is the best choice) at least helps supplement the body with “greens” so that you get much-needed vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, micro-nutrients, and antioxidants.  All good for your immune system and body at-large.

4. Omega 3,6, and 9 Fatty Acids:  DO NOT BE AFRAID OF FAT.  High-quality fats are incredibly good for your body, including your brain and skin.  The attack on fats and cholesterol have been very dangerous to the health of Americans, and we must counter this by consuming fats that are good for us.  This includes olive oil (as well as many other oils, just avoid canola and “vegetable” oil that most likely have traces of GMOs), organic butter, organic dairy products (like raw milk) and my favorite: cod liver oil.  You can find a cod liver oil supplement at your local health food store, and this can be taken in either in a pill or with a spoon (again, I prefer not taking pills whenever possible because of the levels of absorption in your body).

5. Clean Water: If you live in the city, it is hard to imagine what this really means.  Unfortunately, public water systems are often tainted with chemicals that the government claims are “good” for you and “protect your health”.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  It is essential that we drink pure water because it is the filtration system for our body.  You can find filters that help get rid of some of these particles, you can also purchase spring water and high-quality filtered water.  My favorite water supplement for water is a product called “Cellfood”, which you can add to your pure water – this is an oxygen/nutrient supplement.

6. Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements:  For further review and research, the following are additional means of adding nutrients to your diet that will boost your immune system, and build your body and brain:  All B-Vitamins, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Vitamin A, Probiotics, Colostrum, and Elderberry.

It is impossible to fight a battle or a war if you are sick.  That is why we must keep our bodies and brains healthy – and be proactive about what we are feeding ourselves, our families, and our communities.  It is up to us to take responsibility for our health.  Being proactive and protecting our body from disease is the right thing to do for our own well-being as well as for the fight to restore sound economic principles and constitutionality to our country.

Tyranny = Raw Milk Producers Being Arrested

Tyranny is all around us – including our food supply and our choice to use natural foods and medicines in our bodies.

Rawsome Foods – a private members-only (co-op) market in Venice, California, is home to place where local community members can purchase raw milk, cheese, yogurt, and kefir.  Apparently the federal government does not have enough to be worried about with the upcoming collapse of the economic system, they have to “protect” consumers from purchasing raw food products that humans have consumed for thousands of years.

The owner, James Stewart, along with two others (Sharon Palmer (of Healthy Family Farms), and Victoria Bloch (local L.A. co-chapter leader for the Weston A. Price Foundation)), were taken away in handcuffs.

The raid was carried out by gun carrying officers of the LA County Sheriff’s Office, the FDA, the Dept. of Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control“.

The charge?  Conspiracy to sell unpasteurized milk products.

THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND.

First of all, it cannot be a conspiracy if it is a private group of knowing citizens deciding for themselves to purchase and consume these products.  Secondly, I cannot believe that our tax-payer money goes towards arresting innocent people who are actually doing good things for their local communities and economies.

I have consumed raw milk (both cow and goat) for over 4 years, and know for a fact that it is actually healthier and more beneficial to our bodies than pasteurized milk.  It really doesn’t matter what I think though, because each of us should have the right to CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES – that is what liberty is – and that is why the government should get its nose out of our choice to consume raw milk.
